Mayawati to be sworn-in as UP CM on May 13

Lucknow, May 12: BSP supremo Mayawati will take oath as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh for the record fourth time tomorrow, party sources said today.

Ms Mayawati, whose party has gained an absolute majority in the 403-member UP assembly, will take oath of office at a simple ceremony at Raj Bhawan tomorrow, BSP General Secretary Satish Chand Mishra told sources.

A meeting of the BSP legislature party has commenced at the party headquarters here to elect its leader.

''Though the meeting would be a mere formality as Mayawati will be elected as the leader in the meeting,'' a senior BSP leader said.

Upon being elected as the leader of the legislature party, the BSP supremo will go to Raj Bhawan to stake her claim to form the next government.

After the notification of the new assembly by the EC this evening, the Governor will invite Ms Mayawati to form a government.

The term of the present assembly will expire tomorrow midnight.

The new government is expected to take charge of the state within a day or two.
