India wants friendly relations with all countries: Somnath

New Delhi, May 12 (UNI) Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee has said India wants to maintain friendly relations with all the countries of the world, including her neighbours.

While welcoming a four-member Parliamentary Delegation from Kazakhstan at Parliament House yesterday, he appreciated that country's role in maintaining world peace and for taking confidence building measures in Asia.

Mr Chatterjee said India and Kazakhstan had longstanding friendly relations. And in view of huge oil and gas and mineral resources in Kazakhstan, India was keen to further develop bilateral relations with it in various fields including trade, commerce, energy, art and culture.

The delegation was led by Mr Serik Abdrakhmanov, Chairman, Committee for International Affairs, Defense and Security of 'Majilis' (Lower House) of Kazakhstan.

Mr Abdrakhmanov also invited Mr Chatterjee to visit his country.
