Freedom fighter Vithu Kale passes away

Ahmednagar, May 12 (UNI) Senior Congress leader and freedom fighter Vithu Gamaji Kale died here today of old age. He was 96.

He is survived by a son and brother Shankarrao Kale, who is a senior Congressman and a former MP.

Vithu Gamaji Kale had participated in the 1942 Quit India movement and was interned in jail by the British for two years.

He had served as Kopergaon Taluka Congress Committeechairman, as a member of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) and was also general secretary of the Maharashtra Freedom Fighters Association.

He was cremated in the afternoon at Kopargaon.
