Cloudy weather to continue over NE

Agartala, May 12 (UNI) Weather in most of the North-Eastern states would be partly cloudy and some spells of rain may occur in few places of the states during the next 72 hours, National Centre Medium Range Weather Forecasting, Noida, said today.

According to the officials, wind speed would be normal and mostly South-Easterly wind might blow with the average speed of 2 to 5 km per hour. Temperature would remain normal.

Meanwhile, Agro-meteorological Advisory Service of Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Tripura Centre said, '' Owing to existing dry spell there may be moisture stress in the upland soil of the hilly states of the region.

Irrigation might be affected by moisture stress. The Department has advised that soil should be covered with tree leaves or polythene to avoid water losses through evaporation. This would help recharge the soil moisture and water storage for off-season cultivation.
