Centre to explore potential for enhancing export of J

Srinagar, May 12 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Commerce Jairam Ramesh today said that ways and means would be explored for enhancing and utilizing the export potential of Jammu and Kashmir.

Mr Ramesh, who arrived here today on a two-day visit to the valley will interact with senior officers of the state government and members of the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industries.

Immediately after his arrival, the Minister visited Jammu and Kashmir Bank corporate office and had a detailed meeting with the senior executives of the Bank.

The Bank chairman, Dr Haseeb Draboo gave a comprehensive presentation to the Minister on various aspects of the State's economy.

Various measures were discussed to boost the exports from the State and to improve the economy. Several decisions are expected to be taken as a result of the Minister's consultation.

Mr Ramesh later had an interactive session with the members of Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industries.

During his stay in the Valley, the Minister will meet Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and senior government officers besides presiding over an award function of Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industries.
