Doda, May 12 (UNI) Hundreds of BJP workers today staged demonstration at Seri Bazaar in Bhaderwah against the Jammu and Kashmir government, blaming that it had failed to secure the lives of common people, particularly of those belonging to the minority community.

The protesters, led by BJP district president Chander Shekher, raised anti-government slogans and demanded resignation from Chief Minister Gulam Nabi Azad.

Quoting the alleged rape case against a police officer, Mr Shekhar criticised government agencies for playing mute spectator in the incident.

Taking a dig at Mr Azad, he said, the Congress-led state government had failed on all fronts. ''Even compensation has not been paid to the farmers whose land has been occupied for establishing the University Campus at Bhaderwah,'' he said.

The Bhaderwah Development Authority, the BJP leader said, was misguiding locals in the name of tourism development.

Mr Shekher also demanded sophisticated weapons for Village Defence Committee (VDC) members.
