All party meet should be state level: PCC

Kolkata, May 12 (UNI) The West Bengal Pradesh Congress has decided to wait and watch on the development of the proposed all party meeting on Nandigram impasse.

PCC working president Pradip Bhattacharjee said this after the party's working committee meeting here.

He told a news conference that they would take note " who is calling the meeting and which political parties will be attedning before we (Congrsss) joining the all party meeting." The all party meeting should be a state level one, Mr Bhattacharjee said.

He acknowledged that the Forward Bloc leader Ashoke Ghosh had called the PCC's former president Somen Mitra and urged him to join the proposed meeting and "we have submitted our party's stand to the FB leader." " We have already told the FB leader that the Congress will participate and discuss in the all party meeting to make it fruitful" Mr Bhattacharjee said.

"We are not against the industrialisation in the state but we do not support the process applied by the state government for acquiring the land forcefully for the industry," he said.

He said the PCC was against forceful land acquisition, the working president said.

"We have already submitted our plan to the state government with detail notes for industrialisation of the state and it is our political stand," he said.

PCC president Pranab Mukherjee was also present in the party meeting and exrpressed his views.

Mr Bhattacharjee said a PCC general body meeting would be convened here soon, he added.
