80.31 pc students pass HSSC exams in Goa

Panaji, May 12 (UNI) Girls have outsmarted boys in the Higher Secondary School Certificate examination, conducted by the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE).

Board chairman L M T Fernanades, while annoucing the results here today, informed that 8,624 of the 10,739 candidates who had appeared for the examination, had passed recording a pass percentage of 80.31. Last year, the pass percentage was 76.52.

In the exempted category, 1305 students had appeared of whom 461 had passed.

Girls outsmarted boys by 11 per cent like last year, Mr Fernandes said.

Giving the streamwise details, Mr Fernandes said 1963 students had appeared from the arts stream of whom 1598 had passed, recording a pass percentage of 81.41. In the exempted category, 323 students had appeared of whom 109 had passed.

In commerce, 3788 students had appeared of whom 3104 had passed, recording a pass percentage of 81.94. In the exempted category, 445 students had appeared for the examinations of whom 162 had passed.

In science, the total number of candidates was 2934 of whom 2163 had passed, recording a pass percentage of 73.72. In the exempted category, there were 408 students of whom 136 had passed.

In the vocational stream, there were 2054 students of whom 1759 had passed, giving a pass percentage of 85.64. In the exempted category, there were 129 students of whom 54 had passed.
