200 scribes taken into custody
Chennai, May 12 (UNI) Police today took into custody about 200 journalists and non-journalists when they attempted to take out a procession to the office of the Director General of Police from Tamil Daily 'Dinakaran' office in Mylapore here, condemning the May 9 attack in Madurai.
Police said the processionists were rounded up when they attempted to take out the procession without police permission, demanding the arrest of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's elder son M K Azhagiri, whose supporters were behind the attack.
The agitators belonged to journalist organisations such as the Tamil Nadu Union of Journalists, Madras Union of Journalists, Press Club, Chennai, All Media Journalists Association and Madras Reporters Guild.
