Special development grant for 'peaceful' villages in Rajasthan

Jaipur, May 11 (UNI) Rajasthan government has announced a special developmental grant of Rs one lakh for villages which maintain a congenial atmosphere and communal harmony in their region.

Village Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Kalu Lal Gurjar said today the scheme has been undertaken with the aim to encourage maintenance and sustenance of peaceful atmosphere in the villages by resolving village disputes amicably and through negotiations.

He said the state government has issued instructions to all district councils in this regard.

Mr Gurjar said only those villages would be eligible for the grant which have been able to settle their disputes amicably without taking the help of police in the past two years of 2005-06 and 2006-07.

The minister added that respective police stations would be asked to provide a certificate saying that no dispute or complaints have been received at the station, thus ensuring the special grant for the village.
