Six killed in road accidents in HP
Shimla, May 11 (UNI) Six people, including a four-year old child, were killed and three injured in five separate road accidents in Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday night, police sources today said.
Two people were killed after the van in which they were traveling, fell into a gorge at Nagan in Kullu district on Wednesday night.
The sources said the vehicle was on its way to Shimla from Kullu when the accident occurred in which two people identified as Prakash, 33, and Suraj, 29, were killed, adding that the cause of the accident was being ascertained.
A motorcyclist was killed and two seriously injured after their vehicle met with an accident at Ambota village of Una district late on Wednesday night.
The sources said driver of a tractor, identified as Tarsem Chand, was killed after his vehicle fell into a 200-feet deep gorge at Saloua village of Bilaspur district.
One person was killed and another seriously injured after a tipper overturned at Morsu, near Bhota, in Hamirpur district, the sources said.
The dead has been identified as Vinod Kumar, 23, while the injured has been identified as driver of the vehicle Subhash Chand who has been admitted to a government hospital at Bhota.
The sources said in yet another accident in the state, one four-year old child was crushed to death under the wheels of a speeding truck at Dharlaghat yesterday.
The driver escaped from the scene after the accident and the sources said efforts were on to trace and arrest him.
At least three people were killed after their Bolero jeep fell into a gorge at Ching Kainchi in Shimla district on Wednesday night, taking the death toll in road accidents in the state to 41 in the last 10 days.
