RPF personnel, Advocate clash

Chennai, May 11 (UNI) Tension prevailed at the Railway Metropolitan Court in Central railway station here today following a clash between an advocate and a Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel, in which two RPF men and an advocate were injured.

RPF sources said advocate Ramesh, practicing in Egmore court, was arrested by the RPF men when he attempted to cross the locked level crossing at Villivakkam with his two-wheeler. Ramesh was produced before the Metropolitan court hearing railway cases.

However, a clash ensued between the RPF personnel and Ramesh, in which RPF Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police Selvam, Head Constable Saleem and Ramesh were injured.

The injured RPF men were admitted to the Government Stanley Hospital, while the advocate was treated at the Government Royapettah Hospital.

Meanwhile, a section of advocates practicing in Metropolitan court at Egmore boycotted proceedings in protest against the ''misbehaviour'' of RPF men and also demanded their immediate arrest.
