Rabri holds Nitish govt responsible for bus tragedy
Patna, May 11 (UNI) Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly Ms Rabri Devi held the Nitish Kumar government responsible for the bus tragedy which claimed 21 lives today.
Former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi said the government's 'careless attitude' towards the repair of the Mahatma Gandhi Setu caused the accident.
She said the Setu, considered to be a lifeline as it connects North Bihar with the rest of the state, was in a dilapidated condition and one portion had been closed 'in the name of maintenance'.
She claimed that the unending repair work had created extra pressure and traffic load on the other side of the bridge following which it remained jammed for most of the time and even small errors caused major accidents.
She alleged that apart from red tapism which delayed the repair work of the bridge, the traffic policemen were more interested in personal gains than discharging their duty.
She demanded the government consider the problem and expedite the repair work in the interest of the people.
