Protest against taking help from missionary organisation
Betul, MP, May 11 (UNI) Hindu outfits registered their strong protest to receiving help for a mass marriage programme from an organisation, allegedly involved in carrying out conversion.
As many as 225 couples tied the knot here yesterday in the presence of Madhya Pradesh Revenue Minister and district incharge minister.
During the programme, a Christian Missionary organisation 'World Vision' distributed utensils to newly-weds.
On receiving information, Hindu outfits -- including the VHP, the ABVP and the Bajrang Dal -- staged a demonstration alleging that the organisation was involved in conversion-related activities.
Meanwhile, Mr Patel directed the district administration to not take help from the World Vision in future for any official programme.
VHP working president Praveen Gugnani submitted a memorandum to Mr Patel demanding removal of the official responsible for taking help from the organisation.
During the programme, Betul Janpad Panchayat President Nandini Suryavanshi had demanded that sticker of 'World Vision' be removed from the utensils.
When this did not happen, she went on the stage and threw the utensils.
Later, VHP, Bajrang Dal and ABVP workers followed the suit and tore the posters of 'World Vision' outside the stadium.
