Programmes under JNNURM to begin soon in Mysore city
Mysore, May 11 (UNI) Implementation of programmes under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) would begin in this city soon, Karnataka Cooperation and District incharge minister G T Deve Gowda said today.
Addressing the mediapersons after attending a meeting with officials, he said the Union government had sanctioned Rs 194 crore for first phase of the programme. This included improvement of drinking water facilities, roads and clearance of slums. A detailed report had already been prepared, he said.
"The main aim of the project was to improve supply of drinking water. We would also complete works on the outer ring road, while heritage buildings would be given a face lift without affecting the original designs. Works that would help boost the tourism industry in and around the city will be taken at the cost of Rs 75 crore," he said.
