PM, Sonia arrive in TN for CM's jubilee fete

Chennai, May 11 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi arrived here today for a day's visit to attend the felicitation function of DMK President and Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on his golden jubilee in the State Assembly.

After their arrival in a special IAF aircraft, Dr Singh and Ms Gandhi left for the venue where Mr Karunanidhi would be felicitated.

They were received at the airport by Governor Surjit Singh Barnala, Chennai Corporation Mayor M Subramanian, Union Ministers Dayanidhi Maran, T R Baalu, G K Vasan, E V K S Elangovan, Tamil Nadu Speaker R Avudaiyappan, among other leaders of various political parties and top police and revenue officials.

Earlier, former prime minister I K Gujral, Union Ministers Lalu Prasad, Ramvilas Paswan, Sharad Pawar, Anbumani Ramadoss, senior Congress Leader Veerappa Moily and others arrived in a chartered flight and left for the venue.
