NSTL holds 'Technology Day' fete

Visakhapatnam, May 11 (UNI) The Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL) and Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) today celebrated the 'Technology Day' to commemorate the 1998 Pokhran Nuclear Test and to perpetuate the spirit of technological advancements.

On the occasion, the ''Scientist of the Year Award 2007 '' was conferred to the Laboratory Scientist C D Malleswar for his contributions in the field of fire control systems.

The award would be given by the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at a function in New Delhi.

An exhibition of international standard hydrodynamic facilities and weapons developed in the NSTL like torpedoes, mines, fire control systems and decoys was held.

The highlights of the exhibition were ''sea sick simulator'', talking fish,'' ''robots'' and various working models in the laboratory. Hydrodynamic facilities and weapon systems were on display.

During his talk on ''higher order spectra and its application for under water weapons'' NSTL Director, V Bhujanga Rao urged the young scientists to contribute their might unstintingly. He also awarded Titanium Medal to M Sandhya, a scientist.
