North Karnataka region experiencing severe heatwave condition

Gulbarga, May 11 (UNI) North Karnataka region experiencing severe heat wave condition with mercury touching above 40 degree Celsius.

Adding to the peoples woo were acute shortage of drink water and frequent power failure.

The most affected districts in the region were Gulbarga, Raichur, Bijapur, Bidar. In all these district the heat wave condition was continuing since last month.

The streets wore desert look in the day time with people preferring to remain indoor.

In Gulbarga, despite, heat wave condition people staged agitation in protest against scarcity of drinking water supply. The bandh call given by Janapara Vedike evoked mixed response. All commercial establishments downed their shutters. The government offices, which are functioning from 0830 hrs to 1330 hrs, and Banks functioned normally.

The buses were run with police escort.

Police sources said that no untoward incident reported.
