Nine killed and 40 injured in Garwah district

Garwah, May 11 (UNI) At least nine people were killed and about 40 injured when the truck carrying a barat party fell into a dry pond under Bhawnathpur area of the district last night.

Police here today said the truck carrying about 60 people was en route to Khokha village from Sonbhadra of Uttar Pradesh to attend a marriage ceremony.

While passing through a narrow lane, the truck fell into a dry pond near Rajkhar village, police added.

Seven people died on spot while two others succumbed to their injuries at a local hospital in Sonbhadra district.

The injured had been admitted to different hospitals of the district, police added.
