New Delhi, May 11: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav claimed that the Samajwadi Party will emerge as a single largest party, proving the prediction of all exit polls wrong.

In an interview to India TV, the Samajwadi party supremo said the exit poll had gone wrong relating to his party in the previous four elections, as would also be the case in the recent UP polls.

Mr Singh said an absolute majority of the Samajwadi Party could not be ruled out, but expressed confidence that the number of seats of the party will go up.

On a question relating to post-poll tie-up, the Chief Minister said the SP Parliamentary Board would take a decision after the results are declared.

On a raid by the Income Tax Department on a NOIDA-based firm, whose owner is known to be close to Mr Singh, he said the Congress had been doing similar thing to his friends in the past. He said the ultimate target of the party was he himself.

He asserted neither he nor his party colleagues were worried about the vindictive actions. He, however, made it clear that during his rule, he did not practice victimisation of his opponents.

The Chief Minister said it had been his endeavour to bring non-Congress and non-BJP parties on one platform.
