Litterateur Dr Datar passes away

Nashik, May 11 (UNI) Senior litterateur and critic Dr Balasaheb Datar died today of old age here at his residence early this morning. He was 92.

Dr Datar, former president of Sarvajanik Vachanalaya Nashik (SaVaNA), is survived by a son, two daughters and grand children.

Founder of Deshdoot group of publications Deskisan Sarda, Adv Vilas Honari, Jaiprakash Jategoankar, Datta Saraf, former MLC Nishiganda Mogal and other dignitaries visited his residence and expressed their condolences.

He was cremated at Amar Dham cremation here. His body was kept at the SaVaNa office, where SaVaNa president Balasaheb Saraf offered his tribute. The funeral was attended by dignitaries from various fields.

Dr Datar played a major role in social and cultural development of the city.
