Heavy rains forecast in Andaman, Nicobar Islnads

Pune, May 11 (UNI) Heavy to very heavy rains or thundershowers are likely to occur at most places in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places in Lakshadweep, and at a few places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal, Sikkim, Orissa, coastal Andhra Pradesh, coastal Karnataka and Kerala.

Rain or thundershowers are also likely to occur at isolated places in Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, east Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chattisgarh, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Telangana, Rayalseema and Tamil Nadu.

Heat wave conditions prevailed in south coastal Andhra Pradesh, north Tamil Nadu, in some parts of Vidarbha, and at isolated places in west Madhya Pradesh and Telangana.

Day temperatures were appreciably above normal in Rajasthan and in some parts of coastal Orissa and south Tamil Nadu and in remaining parts of west Madhya Pradesh. They were above normal in Assam, Meghalaya, in some parts of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Jammu and Kashmir, Marathwada, and in remaining parts of Vidarbha and Telangana.

Day temperatures were appreciably below normal in east Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and in some parts of north interior Karnataka.

They were below normal in some parts of interior Orissa, Bihar and Madhya Maharashtra. They were normal over the rest of the country.

Heavy to very heavy rains or thundershowers have occured at many places in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.
