Heavy rainfall warning in Andaman as monsoon sets in
Port Blair, May 11 (UNI) Southwest monsoon has set in over some parts of Andaman and Nicobar islands, the weather office said here today.
Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological department has issued a warning that heavy rains were likely to occur at isolated places over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands during next 48 hours.
Strong westerly wind, with speed exceeding 45 km per hour and generally rough seas were also expected along and off the Andaman and Nicobar Coast, a weather bulletin of the local Met office said here.A low-pressure area is likely to develop over the east central Bay of Bengal within the next 24-36 hours, a Met officer said.
