Heat wave conditions in AP, low pressure forms

Hyderabad, May 11 (UNI) Heat wave conditions prevailed over South coastal Andhra Pradesh today even as a trough of low pressure formed over east central Bay of Bengal and neighbourbood.

The system was likely to become more marked and may concentrate into a depression by Sunday, according to the Indian Meteorological Department.

Heat wave conditions were likely to continue over South coastal Andhra Pradesh in the next 48 hours.

Tirupati had a maximum temperature of 43.7 degrees Celsius, while it was 42.5 degree Celsius in the state capital and also in the cultural city of Rajahmundry. In Vijayawada airport the mercury dipped to 42.7 degree Celsius from a very high 45 degree Celsius yesterday.

Isolated rain occurred over coastal Andhra Pradesh. Weather had been mainly dry over Telangana and Rayalaseema.

Bapatla, Visakhapatnam, Ranasthalam, Palasa, Srungavarapukota recorded one cm rainfall.

The maximum temperature fell at one or two places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and changed little over Telangana and Rayalaseema.

The temperature was significantly above normal at a few places over coastal Andhra Pradesh, above normal at a few places over Telangana and Rayalaseema.

Isolated rain or thundershowers were likely to occur over North coastal region. Mainly dry weather would prevail over South coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Rayalaseema.

Hyderabad would have partly cloudy sky. Maximum temperature would be around 42 degree Celsius.

A report from Vijayawada said three persons, including a woman, died due to sunstroke in Krishna district in the last two days. A maximum temperature of 43.3 degree Celsius was recorded in Eluru today.
