Five students injured in violence
Malappuram, Kerala, May 11 (UNI) At least five activists of the Kerala Students Union (KSU) and Muslim Students Federation (MSF) were injured as a protest march called by them turned violent at Calicut University campus at Eranhippalam in the district, today.
Police said the trouble began when the activists, who took out a march to the varsity demanding withdrawal of recent fee hike, pelted stones at the office complex, damaging a vehicle.
Police had to use water canon and resorted to mild lathicharge to disperse the unruly group of students, they said, adding that four KSU and a MSF activists were injured in the melee.
The injured were admitted to nearby hospitals.
