Father chains son for wanting to marry

Kolkata, May 11 (UNI) Son proposed, father disposed. Raghu Amin Mollah was chained and locked by his father for three weeks as he wanted to marry the woman of his choice much against his family's wishes.

Police rescued 19- year old Raghu from his father's house yesterday on the outskirts of the city, a police officer said who took part in the operation.

The father has been arrested and charged with illegally detaining and torturing his son for 21 days, he said.

The police official said Abed Ali Mollah opposed his son's marriage to Shahnaz Khatun because of enmity between the two families.

Police acted after Khatun filed a complaint against her father-in-law, he said.
