Early trends put BSP ahead in UP assembly results
Lucknow, May 11: The Bahujan Samaj Party was leading in 15assembly constituencies while the ruling Samajwadi Party, BharatiyaJanata Party and Congress were lagging behind as the trends for 24seats poured in minutes after counting began at 0700 hrs.
Chief Minister Mulayam Singh was leading in the Gunnaur assemblyconstituency by 2200 votes over his nearest BSP candidate Arif Aliafter the first round of counting.
Former assembly speaker and SP candidate Dhani Ram Verma wastrailing in Bidhuna against the BSP candidate, while in other threeassembly seats of Auriya district, BSP candidates were leading.
BSP nominees are leading in around 15 assembly segments with aslender margin, while the SP candidates took initial leads in fourseats.
The BJP candidates were leading in two seats while Congress in one.
Independent Akhilesh Singh was leading by over 4000 votes after the first round of counting in Rae Bareli(Sadar) seat.
SP's Nawab Kazim Ali was leading in Swartanda, while party candidate in Sahabad was ahead of the BSP candidate.
In Basti district, BSP candidates were leading in all five seats.
Senior Congress leader Jagdambika Pal was trailing in the Basti seat against the BSP candidate.
