U T Khadar, Cong nominee for Ullal Assembly Bypoll

Gulbarga, May 11: The Congress today announced Mr U T Khadar as the party nominee for the Ullal Assembly constituency in Karnataka where Byelections will be held on June two.

This was announced by Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President Mallikarjuna Kharge at a press confernece.

Mr Khadar is the son of Mr U T Fareed, whose death had necessitated the by bypoll.

The BJP had already announced the candidature of Mr Chandrasekhar Uchil, who had lost to Mr Fareed in the 2004 elections. The BJP has sought its coalition partner Janata Dal (Secular) to extend support to its candidate, reciprocating the gesture it had shown in the byelection to Chamunderswari Assembly elections in Mysore recently.

Nominations which opened on May eight closes on May 15. The last date for withdrawal is May 18.
