CEO directs Vigilance to probe into canvassing by govt servants

Panaji, May 11 (UNI) Chief Electoral Officer of Goa Ranesh Negi today directed the state vigilance department to probe into complaints against five government officials who are engaged in canvassing for the June 2 state Assembly elections.

Acting on complaints by the public against the government servants of polytechnic, technical education and water resources departments, Mr Negi asked the Vigilance wing to issue show cause notices to the government officials and demanded why disciplinary action should not be taken against them? He further asked Deputy Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ujjwal Mishra to direct the police officials not to visit ministers' residences or any other political personalities residence, except on official duty.

He also urged the public to bring to his notice as well returning officers and the district collectors about such instances.
