Bharati Airtel rated among ten best performers

Chennai, May 11: Mr Mahesh Thampi, Chief Operating Officer, Mobile Services, Chennai and Tamil Nadu, Bharati Airtel Ltd today said the Company has been rated among the ten "best performing companies" in the world in the business world IT 100 list.

Mr Thampi, who presented the bumper prize and other prizes to winners of a festival bumper contest, Pongal contest and Valentine's Day contests here told newspersons that said as on March 31 this year, Bharati Airtel Ltd had 39.02 million customers.

He said the high-speed optic fibre network currently spans over 39,000 kms, covering all the major cities in the country.

The company also had two international landing stations in Chennai connecting two submarine cable systems to Singapore and Europe.

He said the contest was held at national level, in which around four lakh customers participated.

He said the company was structured into three strategic business units, mobile services, Broadband and telephone services and enterprise services.

While the mobile business provided mobile and fixed wireless service using GSM technology across 23 telecom circles,the broadband telephone business provided brandband and telephone services in 94 cities. The enterprise services provided end-to-end telecom solutions to corporate customers, and national and international long distance services to carriers.
