Believe it or not; '11' seems lucky number for MK

Chennai, May 11 (UNI) Is '11' a lucky number for Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M Karunanidhi ? The answer seems to be yes, if one goes by the remarks of CPI(M) Legislator C Govindasamy.

In an apparent reference to AIADMK Supremo J Jayalalithaa, Mr Govindasamy, felicitating the DMK chief on his goldenjubilee in the State Assembly, said while ''number nine'' was lucky for some people, 11 is lucky for Mr Karunanidhi.

He was elected to the Assembly 11 times and won 11 successive polls since 1957, when he first got elected from Kulithalai.

''It was on May 11 last year that we all heard the happy news of Mr Karunanidhi becoming Chief Minister for a record fifth time.'' (May 11 was the day when Assembly election results were announced).

''And today the date is May 11 when we celebrate his golden jubilee in the State Assembly', Mr Govindasamy said amid wild cheers and thumping of desks by those present in the House.
