Attack on Sun TV office condemned

Akola, May 11: The Akhil Bhartiya Marathi Patrakar Parishad has strongly condemned the attack on the office of Sun TV network in Madurai on Wednesday.

In a statement here yesterday, Amravati divisional secretary of the guild, Siddharth Sharma, said the attack on the Sun TV-Dinakaran offices were the worst incidents in the country.

Freedom of the press as well as electronic media is being gauged by the support of the ruling politicians. This has been amply proved by the attack on the Sun TV office in which three staffers were killed for no fault of theirs, he said.

''An apology by Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and a demand for a CBI probe into the attack is a farce as nothing can be achieved from the inquiry,'' he added.

Another media outfit 'Akola Zilla Patrakar Sangh', affiliated to the Parishad, headed by Bhagwantrao Ingle of Hindutva newspaper, has also condemned the attack on Sun TV.

Mr Ingle has sought the immediate arrest of the culprit and demanded that the criminal trial be completed and the accused punished within six months of the offence. Otherwise, he said, faith in the system will be lost.
