Asom: 2 people kidnapped by suspected militants

Silchar, May 10: Suspected Bru militants kidnapped two employees of a private construction company from Alexandarpur near Katlicherra in Hailakandi district of Asom last night, police said today.

They said eight tribal youths armed with sophisticated weapons came in a jeep at about 2030 hrs and whisked away at gun point the cashier and the supervisor of the Silchar-based ABC Construction Company from the construction site, about 90 km from here.

Police and CRPF have started combing operation in the area to rescue the kidnapped. The company was engaged in constructing a road under the PMGSY.

At least three Bru militant outfits are active in this area near Asom-Mizoram border and indulge in extortions and kidnappings.
