The vehicle fell into 300-metre deep gorge at Ching Kainchi, about 100 kms from here, on the Aunti-Nandpur link road late last night, he told UNI here.

Mr Singh said local people rushed to the accident site soon after the accident and help the police in retrieving bodies from the mangled jeep.

The cause of the accident was, however, not yet known and investigations are on, he said.

He said the dead have been identified as Jagjiwan Jasta, 40, Suresh Thakur, 35 and driver Amar Singh, 40, adding that their bodies were handed over to the relatives after post mortem examination.

The district administration has announced an immediate relief of Rs 10,000 each to the next of the kin of the dead, Mr Singh added.

Thirty two people have been killed and several injured in three separate road accidents in Shimla, Sirmaur and Kangra districts of the state in the last eight days due to popular disregard for traffic regulations, lax enforcement of laws and a casual attitude towards safety.
