Servants held for theft

Chennai, May 10 (UNI) A servant girl and her parents were arrested for allegedly stealing Rs three lakh in cash from the house she was working at Koyambedu here today.

Maheswari (13) and her parents Ramadas (34) and Ms Chinnammal (30), staying at Mogappair, were engaged as servants in various houses in that area, police said.

The girl allegedly stole Rs three lakh from the house of one Rajesh, when he and his wife were away.

On a complaint, J J Nagar police registered a case and was monitoring the movements of the trio.

The trio was arrested at Koyambedu Moffussil Bus Terminal this morning while trying to board a bus to escape to their native place.

The stolen cash was recovered from their bag.

While the girl was sent to a juvenile home, her parents were lodged at Puzhal Central Prison, police said.
