Rabri lambasts Nitish government for poor land reforms

Patna, May 10 (UNI) Former Bihar Chief Minister and leader of Opposition in the Assembly Rabri Devi today alleged that the Nitish Kumar government was not implementing land reforms and instead trying to shrug off its responsibility by constituting commissions.

In a statement here, Mrs Rabri Devi said nothing was visible at the grassroot level despite the constitution of land reforms commission about a year ago by the state government. She said people had the right to know about the recommendations of the commission and the action taken by the government to implement it.

She said the previous RJD regime in Bihar had initiated a move to distribute 'Gairmajarua' land among the landless farmers but the indifferent attitude of this government had poured cold water on the aspirations of the toiling poor.

''Most of the violent incidents in rural areas have their root in land dispute which can be checked by proper rectification of land records,'' Rabri maintained. She asked the state government to initiate a thorough survey of the land to fulfil the mission.
