Punjab govt orders promotion in teaching faculty
Chandigarh, May 10 (UNI) The Punjab Government has ordered that the promotion process for the teaching faculty in the Education Department should be completed at the earliest.
Disclosing this here today, Education Minister Upinderjit Kaur said that all the promotion cases had been summoned by the education directorate and both the DPIs (schools and colleges) had already been instructed to initiate the promotion process of teachers. For posting of these promotee teachers, decentralisation of powers have been ordered and District Education Officers (DEOs) have been authorised to issue the posting orders of Master cadre at their own level.
There is no need for the promotees to come to the state headquarters for availing posting orders, she added.
The Minister further said that the DEOs would display the lists of vacant posts and stations in the schools and the teachers could select their own stations for posting as per their seniority basis.
She persuaded the teachers to choose such schools where more posts are vacant and teachers were urgently required.
In order to maintain transparency during the promotion process, Dr Upinderjit Kaur warned that unfair means or corruption would not be tolerated at any cost. She further added that it has also been decided to clear all pending cases of the dependents of teachers and other employees of the Education Department who have died in harness for recruitment on compassionate grounds on priority basis.
The appointment letters in this regard would be handed over to the beneficiaries in a day long camp, she said. She advised the genuine beneficiaries to submit their required documents to the directorate through DEOs at the earliest.
