Prof's murder: Judge transferred

Ujjain, May 10 (UNI) The hearing in Professor H S Sabharwal murder case could not take place today as the judge hearing the case has been transferred.

District Sessions Judge A K Verma, who was hearing the case, has been transferred as the Assistant Registrar of the Madhya Pradesh High Court in Jabalpur.

Judge Sharma was hearing the case since chargesheet was presented. So far, 48 witnesses had recorded their statements.

Five other witnesses were scheduled to record their statements today.

The date for next hearing has been fixed on May 25.

Professor H S Sabharwal died when he was attacked by students irked over the postponement of student unions elections on August 26.

The CID, which was entrusted with inquiry into the matter, had arrested six ABVP workers, including the then state ABVP President Shashi Ranjan Akela. The accused were at present in judicial custody in central Bhairavgarh jail.
