Parrikar demands action against Rane for violating model code

Panaji, May 10 (UNI) BJP opposition leader Manohar Parrikar today demanded that election authorities should prosecute Chief Minister Pratapsinh Rane forthwith for violating the model code of conduct and misusing authority.

Interacting with media persons here, Mr Parrikar said he would submit, to the Chief Electoral Officer, a VCD of what transpired at the Chief Minister's official Altinho residence where he had reportedly promised jobs to several youths during his chat with panchayat members.

Replying to a question, he said he would not seek support of any other political outfit in case the BJP fails to get the required majority to form government after the elections.

He alleged that Power Minister Digambar Kamat was behind yesterday's incident in Margao city where a shopkeeper was attacked by a group of goons for reprimanding a youth for eve-teasing his sister.

He demanded deployment of Central Para Military Forces in Margao, which oberved total bandh today in protest againt the assault of the shopkeeper and demanded that the assailants be arrested.
