Overcast conditions in Shimla

Shimla, May 10 (UNI) Overcast conditions are prevailing in Shimla due to the western disturbance laying over the adjoining Jammu and Kashmir, Meteorological Office Director Manmohan Singh today said.

The disturbance, which had brought widespread light to moderate rains in the state yesterday, was likely to bring more rains and hailstorms at isolated places in the next 24 hrs, he told UNI here.

Overcast conditions are prevailing in the state capital since afternoon following another bright and a sunny morning, while the sun was shinning brightly in the remaining parts of the state.

Meanwhile, night temperatures across the state rose appreciably with Shimla town recording an increase of six degrees to stand at 16.6 degrees as compared to 10.6 degree Celsius recorded yesterday.

Similarly, the night temperatures at Sundernagar, Nahan and Palampur rose to 16.7 degrees, 23.3 and 20 degrees in comparison to 16.1, 21.2 and 16.5 degree Celsius recorded yesterday, the met office said.

The minimum temperatures at Kalpa and Patseio, however, remained stationary at 5.4 and zero degrees respectively, while dropping by a few notches at Bhuntar, Solan, Una and Bhang Manali, which recorded minimum temperatures of 12.7, 16, 18 and 9.5 degree Celsius respectively.
