Maj Gen Panjikar takes over as GOC U-Force

Jammu, May 10 (UNI) Maj Gen P C Panjikar today took over the reigns of counter-insurgency Rashtriya Rifles' (RR) Uniform (U) Force -- based at Reasi -- succeeding Maj Gen Vinay Bhatnagar, who will be appointed as Additional Director General, Staff Duties, at Army Headquarters.

An alumus of Indian Military Academy, Dehra Dun and graduate of Defence Services Staff College, Maj Gen Panjikar has the distinction of commanding one of the most decorated Mechanised Infantry Battalions -- 4 MECH INF (1 SIKH) -- and an Armoured Brigade in the Rajasthan desert.

The General Officer was also the Military Attache to Germany.
