Karunanidhi plays down resignation demand
Chennai, May 10 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi sought to play down the Opposition's demand for his resignation over yesterday's violent incidents in Madurai and said it was quite natural to make such a demand whenever such incidents occurred.
Replying to a special calling attention motion tabled by various parties today in the Assembly on the violence that claimed three lives, he said he was not unduly perturbed about the resignation demand.
''It's usual to demand the Chief Minister's resignation on moral grounds. I have no regrets about it as similar demands have been made in the House when different parties ruled the state in the past,'' he said.
''If you choose to give a well-deserved rest to me, I will only be too happy. Nothing else can bring me more joy'', he added.
