Jaya dismisses CBI probe into media attack as "farce"

Chennai, May 10 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition and AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa today dismissed as ''farce'', Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's plea for CBI probe into violence in 'Dinakaran' daily office and demanded his resignation, owning moral responsibility.

In a strongly worded statement, she said the Chief Minister, instead of arresting his Madurai-based son M K Azhagiri, who was ''behind'' the violent incidents and initiate action against other culprits, has sought CBI probe to hoodwink the public.

''It is a farce that Mr Karunanidhi, being at power centre both at the Centre and the state, has sought a CBI probe,'' she said and alleged that the CBI would also act like state police and allow the culprits to escape.

She said Mr Karunanidhi should own moral responsibility for all the violent incidents in Madurai yesterday and step down and the Centre should dismiss the DMK Government for having failed to protect law and order.
