French delegation visits AERB
Mumbai, May 10 (UNI) A five-member delegation from Nuclear Safety Authority of France, led by Olivier Gupta, concluded its two day visit to the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) today.
The delegation from the French Nuclear and Radiation Regulatory Organisation was in India as part of the agreement between the two organisations. The agreement was signed in July 1999 on the exchange of information and co-operation in the regulation of nuclear safety and radiation protection, an AERB release said today.
According to the release, a seminar on 'Pressurised Water Reactors' was also organised under the said agreement. Large number of scientists and engineers from AERB, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR) and Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) participated in the seminar.
The presentations and discussions held in the seminar led a better appreciation of regulatory practices and safety review approach followed in the two regulatory bodies, safety objectives and approaches for new reactors and design assessment of reactors with evolutionary new features.
