Fire destroys over 160 huts

Chennai, May 10 (UNI) Over 160 huts were destroyed in a fire at Lakhshmipuram and Swanthirapuram near suburb Tiruvotriyur here today.

According to Fire and Rescue Service Department sources, eight fire fighting units put out the flames after a few hours.

The fire might have spread from a hearth of one of the houses, they added.

Though there was no loss of life, household goods, fishnets, food grains, clothes to the tune of Rs several lakhs were destroyed.
