Extend BAD programme to entire Arunachal: Rijiju
Itanagar, May 10: Describing entire Arunachal Pradesh as border area, Lok Sabha MP Kiren Rijiju has demanded extension of Border Area Development (BAD) programme to the state keeping in view its strategic location with neighbouring countries.
Only few constituencies in the state were availing the schemes despite the fact that the entire state was underdeveloped, and the Centre should give special dispensation to this sensitive state, Mr Rijiju said over phone from New Delhi.
Three Assembly constituencies each in Tawang and West Kameng districts, two in Kurung Kumey district, one each in Upper Subansiri, West Siang, Upper Siang, Dibang Valley and Anjaw were covered under the BAD programmes, he informed.
"I will raise the issue in Parliament soon to draw the attention of the UPA government," he added.
