Brief rains lash Delhi
New Delhi, May 10 (UNI) A brief spell of rains late this evening considerably brought down the temperature in Delhi much to the relief of people who have been braving scorching heat.
Though lasting for a brief while, the thunderstorm and rain brought about a sudden coolness to the air in Delhi which had earlier recorded the maximum temperature of 39.7 degree.
Weatherman attributed the rains and the thunderstorm to to a fresh upper air circulation.
Earlier, the cool Easterly winds which had yesterday led to a fall in maximum temperature to 38.1 degree, today maintained some coolness in the air despite a rise in temperature to 39.7 degree.
The cool air in Delhi is likely to continue for another day or two with the weather office forecasting more thunderstorms in the Capital city and other parts of the Northwest India during the next 48 hours under the influence of an upper air circulation which has, over the last week, maintained temperatures in the capital either at normal or below normal levels.
''Isolated duststorm or thunderstorm accompanied with squall is likely over parts of Northwest India during the next 48 hours,''the Met office said.
The Met office has forecast a mainly clear sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours with the likelihood of thundry development in some areas.
They have, however, forecast a slight rise in maximum temperature to 40 degree tomorrow.
