AP to go ahead with Palar dam

Tirupati, May 10 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Government has announced its decision to go ahead with the construction of Palar dam at Ganeshpuram in Kuppam with the Major Irrigation Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah clarifying today that the Govenment was not violating the Inter-state River Water Agreement.

After reviewing the ongoing projects taken up in the Rayalaseema region with irrigation officials here, he told newspersons that the Administration had given the clearance for the tenders, likely to be called shortly.

When asked about the Tamil Nadu Government's protest against the consrtuction of the dam he said all the documents related to the dam were submitted to the Tamil Nadu Government.

''In the interest of the State and Chittoor district especially Kuppam mandal, the project will be constructed at any cost'', Mr Lakshmaiah said.
