Alemao resignation accepted: LS Speaker

New Delhi, May 10 (UNI) The resignation of rebel Congress leader Churchill Alemao from the Lok Sabha has been accepted, Speaker Somnath Chatterjee announced in the House today.

''I have accepted his resignation with effect from May 8, 2007,'' the Speaker informed the House.

The former Goa Chief Minister, who represented the Mormugao constituency, recently floated the ''Save Goa Front'' in a move seen as a revolt against the Congress for ignoring him.

Goa is headed for assembly polls on June 2.
