Absconding criminal arrested

Shajapur, MP, May 10 (UNI) A notorious criminal, who alongwith two others escaped from the police lockup at Maksi in this district on Sunday, was rearrested from Ratlam, police said today.

Superintendent of Police Dr Asha Mathur said Indore-based criminals Pappu alias Saleem alias Ali Hussain Shah, Shakir alias Badshah and Umrao Singh Sondhiya were arrested with weapons during a vehicle checking drive at Maksi, from where they escaped on May 6.

On a tip-off about their presence in Indore, police laid a dragnet and arrested Pappu from Ratlam.

Dr Mathur asserted that search for other two criminals was going on and they would also be arrested soon.

A reward of Rs 1,000 each had been declared by the Shajapur police for the arrest of the trio.

''More than a dozen cases of loot, rape, dacoity and kidnapping had been registered agaisnt these criminals in Indore.'' added Ms Mathur.
